Whats new in IBM WebSphere Portal version 6.1.0

In 2008 IBM will release a major milestone version of WebSphere Portal. This session will explore a summary of the new features that are coming, as well as introduce the automation platform WebSphere Portlet Factory. Improvements in the new release are designed to help customers achieve faster time to value, with enhancements that make the product easier to install, configure and deploy. We will also take a look at new Web 2.0 features designed to enhance the user experience, as well as new integration techniques and tools that make Websphere Portal the face of SOA.

JBoss Portal

SPEAKER: Thomas Heute   COMPANY: Red Hat
SLIDES: 080506_ThomasHeuteJBossPortalZurichJUG2008.pdf

Portals framework's grail is mostly about integration. Content integration where multiple technologies can co-exist on a single web-page (Seam + Struts + PHP for example). But also integration in an enterprise infrastructure such as existing ssO framework and existing identity server (such as Red Hat Identity Server or Microsoft Active Directory).

The first part of the talk will explain the problematic and expose JBoss Portal solution to it. The second part of the presentation will dive into the new features that developers can benefit from the Portlet 2.0 specification. That specification allows for better content integration and simplifies web-framework integration as well as defining how different portlets can collaborate to provide a mash-up style experience to the user.
